In this episode of Failing to Success, Chad Kaleky, the host of Cosmic Design, interviewed Chandler Kellogg, the CEO of Hot Button, a sales enablement and growth marketing company. Chandler Kellogg, who has been in the marketing space for years, emphasized that creative is the biggest lever when it comes to advertising, regardless of how good of a media buyer one may be. He urged businesses to test their creative content organically before paying for clicks, so that they can optimize their advertising and avoid wasting their budgets.
Kellogg suggested that a T-shaped marketer, who specializes in one or two categories and has a strong depth of knowledge, would be able to master a marketing strategy by figuring out how all categories come together. Kellogg also advised marketers to publish on at least two platforms instead of relying on only one platform, which may pose a platform risk, such as TikTok being banned in the US.
Kaleky and Kellogg further discussed the importance of publishing organic content on social media and the challenges of promoting on too many platforms. Kellogg recommended that businesses publish on two platforms, and he stressed the importance of testing creative content organically before paying for clicks.
